The best news the world has ever had came from a graveyard near Jerusalem!

The late Evangelist Billy Graham told about a meeting he had with German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer who had been imprisoned by Hitler for opposing the Nazi regime. After World war II, Adenauer picked up the broken pieces of a war-torn Germany and helped rebuild it. At one point during their conversation, Adenauer asked: “Mr. Graham do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead?” Somewhat surprised, Graham answered, “Of course I do.” Adenauer replied: “Mr. Graham, outside of the resurrection of Jesus, I do not know of any other hope for this world.”
Consider for a moment a world without the resurrection of Jesus:
- If Jesus was only born a good, loving, caring man, who lived a good life, who died like any other man, that would have been the end of the story.
- If he was born as the human son of God, who lived a good life, and died on a cruel cross for his beliefs and actions, all we could look back to is someone who inspired us.
Only when his miraculous birth, awful death and his glorious resurrection are all true can he deliver what he promised!
He was born the Son of God and placed in the care of human parents. Living a life of humility and service to those he came to safe, he suffered and died on the cursed cross. (Philippians. 2:5-11)His resurrection from death means He is alive today and you and I can personally encounter him. By conquering death, he opened the door to eternal life for anyone who believes in Him.
A song by Don Francisco expresses the great resurrection truth: “He’s alive, He’s alive and I’m forgiven, heaven’s gates are open wide! He’s Alive.
Pastor Tony Evans’ granddaughter was scared by a dog that was after her. She ran to her Grandpa, jumping into his arms. Below her, the dog was still barking as she looked down. Then she looked into Grandpa’s face and down at the dog again and went: “nanana booboo.” She knew she was safe!
Like this child, let’s climb into the arms of Jesus. In the resurrection, he has triumphed over the “dog of death!” The good life is ours if we believe and follow Him.
